Records, 1973-1985.

This collection documents efforts of the Hispanic Federation for Social and Economic Development to establish and coordinate an economic development program for Puerto Ricans and Latinos in the Greater Delaware Valley, 1981-85. The collection is particularly rich in information concerning housing and community development programs sponsored by the Federation and affiliated community-based organizations in Spanish-speaking neighborhoods. Included are correspondence, grant applications, contracts, reports, memoranda, financial records, and newsclips about the project and its work as a technical services provider to community-based organizations; files for the Federation's Housing Initiative Program and its Human Services Program; maps compiled by the Federation during its 1982 Vacant Properties Survey of selected North Philadelphia census tracts; and printed maps of the targeted district.
